Visuteach provides three types of 11 plus English practice papers. We provide practice papers for the Essex 11 plus English test, the Northern Ireland PPTC (Post Primary Transfer Consortium) English transfer test and English comprehension papers for the North London Independent Girls' Schools' Consortium. 

You can open sample test papers for the Essex 11+ English exam, the Northern Ireland PPTC transfer test and the North London Independent Girls' Schools' Consortium English comprehension test, by clicking on the PDF images or links below and you can download them by right-clicking on the images or links and choosing the 'Save Target As' menu option. The sample papers contain less questions than the full practice papers.

The Essex English practice papers are in standard format (i.e. are not multiple-choice) and follow the format of the CSSE (Consortium for Selective Schools in Essex) test. The Essex test consists of an English comprehension passage and questions which test for comprehension, punctuation and vocabulary. Comprehension makes up between 60% to 68% of the test, vocabulary between 20% to 24% and punctuation between 12% to 16%. The Essex sample paper has a shorter comprehension passage and less questions than the full practice papers.

The PPTC English transfer test practice papers are similar to the format of the GL Assessment Northern Ireland PPTC transfer test sample paper. The practice papers are mutliple-choice and have questions on English comprehension, spelling and punctuation. The PPTC sample paper has less questions than the full practice papers, and it only has one comprehension passage, rather than the three comprehension passages of the practice papers.

Visuteach's English papers for the North London Independent Girls' Schools' Consortium concentrate only on the reading (comprehension) part of the English test. Our English comprehension tests are in standard format (i.e. they are not multiple-choice), are 45 minute tests and come with sample answers. The tests are similar in style to the English comprehension tests used by the schools in Group 2 of the Consortium. Our English comprehension tests are also useful for pupils taking the Group 1 entrance exams and for pupils studying for 11 plus common entrance style English comprehension tests used by other independent schools. Our sample test has 7 questions rather than the 11, 12 or 13 questions in the full test.
